Homemade Baby Wipes

1 ½ cups water
2 Tbsp. baby bath or shampoo
1 Tbsp. baby oil1 roll paper towels

Mix the water, baby bath and baby oil in an empty round baby wipe container. Cut the paper towels in ½ using an electric knife. Remove core from the center. Place paper towels in wipe container. Let the paper towels soak up the water solution. Turn every few minutes to allow the solution to reach the middle of the paper towels. If there is still a dry spot in the middle, add a little more water and turn until soaked through. Pull the wipes from the middle of the roll through the top of the wipe container.

I haven't tried this yet, but it sounds neat. I want to try it!!

I have done this, and it works best if you observe two things:

1. Use quality paper towels. Cheap, thin ones disintegrate too quickly.

2. They can develop a not so nice smell if they get too warm or are kept too long. I have sometimes wondered if water quality had something to do with that, too.

For cloth diaper users: I bought a package of economy washcloths and keep them especially for this purpose. At change time, I wet the cloth, put on one squirt of baby bath, and use. I like these better than wipes because they are "scrubbier" and clean up the messes better. Wash with the diapers.
